Counselor
My name is Adam Freilich and I am a Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor with 16 years experience in the field of addiction, alcoholism and substance use disorders. I have a passion for helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve their goals for a better life.
Adam Freilich, LADC-II
Substance Use Counselor
Throughout my 16 years in the addiction treatment field, I have worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and various stages of addiction, helping them navigate the challenges of recovery and develop the skills necessary to maintain a sober lifestyle. My experience, working in all levels of care from detox to outpatient, as afforded me the opportunity to learn from many great clinical directors and clinical providers who have supported my professional calling to help those suffering with alcoholism and addiction.
I believe that a personable and safe 1:1 therapeutic relationship is essential for effective counseling. My approach to therapy is client-centered and goal-oriented. I work collaboratively with my clients to identify their strengths and areas for growth, and then develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs.
As an alcohol and drug counselor, I understand the importance of providing a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients to explore their feelings, experiences, and behaviors. I offer a compassionate and supportive space where clients can feel comfortable and confident to work through any issues that may be blocking their potential.

Our Services
Our specialties include substance use, alcoholism and addiction. We use evidence-based practices, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions.
Understanding the LADC
As a Bachelor’s level LADC-II Adam works under the direct supervision of an LADC-I, a qualified supervisor who is available to participate in telehealth sessions, as needed, at any time. We bill insurance under the contract of Lotus Healing and our qualified clinical supervisor, Dr. Dixie Brown. We meet multiple times a week to review cases and to determine the best therapeutic course of action of each individual.
Why Choose Us
One of the key benefits of individual counseling is its personalized nature. In individual counseling, the counselor works one-on-one with the client to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to their specific needs and goals. This personalized approach allows the provider to address the underlying issues that may be contributing to the client’s substance use, such as trauma, mental health disorders, or interpersonal conflicts.
Individual counseling offers a confidential space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors surrounding substance use. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals who may feel uncomfortable sharing their experiences in a group setting, or who may have issues that they are not ready to address in a group setting.
Another advantage of individual work is the flexibility it offers in terms of scheduling and frequency of sessions. Unlike IOPs or 12-step programs, which often have set schedules and requirements, individual services allow clients to schedule sessions at a time that is convenient for them and to attend as frequently as needed.
Additionally, it can be more cost-effective for some individuals compared to IOPs or 12-step programs, especially if insurance coverage is limited. While IOPs and 12-step programs can be effective for many people, they may not be the right fit for everyone. Individual counseling offers a flexible, personalized approach that can be tailored to meet the unique needs of each client, making it a valuable option for those seeking support for substance use issues.
